Previously F2. If you arrived here searching for the F2 pass rate, this is the right paper. ACCA renamed its exams in 2018 and F2 Management Accounting became MA. The syllabus has been updated since, but the paper is the same one, and the figures above are it.
ACCA reports pass rates for on-demand papers at the June and December sittings only, so there is no separate March 2026 figure for MA.
Why MA's pass rate looks like this
MA sits well below BT and FA despite being at the same level. The reason is that MA is the first genuinely calculation-heavy paper most students meet. Costing, variance analysis and budgeting all require you to carry a method through accurately under time pressure, and objective-test format gives no partial credit for a right approach with an arithmetic slip.
Variance analysis is where most marks are lost. It is the topic that rewards repetition more than reading, because the calculations are mechanical once the structure is clear and confusing until it is.
As an on-demand computer-based exam, MA's pass rate is reported by ACCA at the June and December sittings only.
How MA compares
MA's rate is roughly 24 points below BT and 6 below FA. Students often expect the three Applied Knowledge papers to feel similar; in practice MA is the one that most commonly needs a second attempt.
